Crypto is increasingly capable of being used in lieu of fiat money in everyday transactions. It represents a new way of transacting however, for the most part, taxpayers need to apply existing legislative provisions and common law principles developed before the evolution of the crypto market. We work through these challenges, outlining the current ATO position.
