What we cover:

The taxation of trusts and trust income is complex in practice because a trust’s income for trust law purposes is often not the same as the taxable income or accounting profit. While there is no standard definition of income in trust deeds, the definition will generally fall into certain broad categories. We explore these broad categories and explain the impact this can have on the tax outcome.
