Testamentary Trusts: What You Need to Know Now and Next

Testamentary trusts are a common feature of many estate plans, with certain tax rules being modified when dealing with a testamentary trust. This means that from a tax perspective testamentary trusts are treated a bit differently to both regular discretionary trusts and deceased estates.

Additionally, the proposed minimum tax regime for discretionary trusts and its potential application to testamentary trust distributions, mean that advisers need to carefully consider whether traditional tax advantages will continue to be available.

This webinar will help participants identify when a testamentary trust exists and understand the key tax modifications and concessions that apply. We examine the taxation of distributions to minor beneficiaries and the impact of the trust tax reform. We also look at the consequences of accumulating income within a testamentary trust.
